Acknowledging the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the holding of free, fair and credible elections, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has agreed to work closely with CSOs before, during and after the forthcoming general elections. Speaking after the CSOs - ZEC interface meeting, the Commission said it would collaborate with CSOs. The collaboration will include scrutiny of ZEC operations by CSOs, respect of ZEC independence by CSOs and other election stakeholders, periodic reviews of electoral processes by election stakeholders, rapid response to election related human rights violations and administrative malpractices, and mobilizing citizens to participate in elections and democratic processes.
